They're cultists but they aren't 100% all in. I seriously wonder if that makes them more fucked up. They have doubts. Imagine their dilemma. Consider their friend Mike. Nobody in his family wears a mask, of course they'll never get the vaccine, and he and his wife have got four kids. He acts like it's a total impossibility that anybody in his family can get sick.
But the cultist can't imagine that Mike might be lying a little or even totally lying about everything. The cultist feels guilty that he has doubts. He's sane enough to worry about dying but he must reject even the idea of the jab. So he uses the totally batshit workaround that his ilk use.
