How are reactionaries this good at getting support for their dumb culture war stuff. Like I had assumed after all those trans bathroom bills failed this was a dead issue.

I’ve known and worked with many anarchists whose relationships I value, but I’ve noticed that self-identified anarchists are just as likely to be reactionaries as they are to be left wing in any sense. Not so much for anarchists involved in organizing, but when I meet an anarchist it’s always a yellow flag for me until I get to know them a bit. It seems in America it’s a term used by politically unsophisticated people obsessed with lifestyle politics more than by libertarian socialists.

Because a lot of time the issue itself per se doesn't matter to reactionaries. They are so used to being "in charge" and dominant in our society. As that privilege (very slowly) gets chipped away, they look for ways to make society "bend the knee" to them and acknowledge their privileged position.

A clearer example to me is how reactionaries have gotten laws passed in some states that require the phrase "In God We Trust" prominently displayed in every school ROOM. It's ultimately a meaningless gesture except for the fact it is a display to show that the white, prosperous, religious right is "still in charge here".
