I want to get into cybersecurity. I am willing to learn about it and do the job effectively. My dumbfuck cornfed manager said they want to make sure i have a "passion" for it. No, i will not think about cybersecurity day and night like i'm in love with it, you dumb fuck middle manager.

Is your employer going to be on the hook for the costs of continued education?

I only ask because I get the vibe that they are only trying to ensure you provide them the ROI that will make it worth it to them. “Passion” in this contexts appears to mean, “are you going to be a net increase in productivity for them after they shell out money for training?”

If they aren’t financially responsible for your training, then I read that as a regular boomer manager regurgitating the leadership class they took back in March. “If you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life” type shit.

Gotcha... pretty standard situation i think, and a standard blow hard manager to go along with it.
