It is true, but ever other mobile browser is still worse
wait you use youtube in firefox on android?
just install newpipe, way more features. automatically play in the background, download just the audio track of a video, download the whole thing, no ads. it’s the ideal experience.
vanced is sus, don’t use it
It’s a hack of the closed-source official YouTube app. It can’t be verified, and (especially in earlier versions) it was fundamentally insecure due to spoofing Google’s signing key.
Also they encourage you to download and use Brave, a Chromium-based browser for homophobes
No other mobile browser has add-ons, as far as I know, but Bromite lets you use one blocklist and is more compatible since it's based on Chromium.
I use the Decentraleyes, Privacy Badger, and uBlock Origin add-ons on mobile. Someone please let me know if those are problematic.
I saw on a privacy sub that some users were against Privacy Badger because it is redundant with uBlock Origin. But the opinion wasn't unanimous so that's something to consider
It's a perfectly competent mobile browser. It even lets you install uBlock, not sure what OP is on about.
Is there another mobile browser that lets me watch YouTube ad free and keeps the sound on with the screen turned off?
YouTube Vanced, but that's an application and not a browser
Newpipe > Vanced
FOSS, works on more services than just youtube, and lets you do things like download just the audio from a video
I just wish that the "tab closed" toast didn't take up exactly the same part of the screen as the bottom tab (the one I'm most likely to open).
Just got an android tablet and coming from an iPhone, I’m just super lit they actually let me use add ons. I know that apparently Safari has some light add on functionality in the new update but I’m not using safari lol
