I remember the 2019 coup prompting a lot of "look things are fine now, the military is letting protestors get involved in the overthrow" as if that means much in terms of getting rid of a several decades long dictatorship and its consequences. Even a good coup like the one that put Velasco in power is prone to falling apart due to the lack of a real revolutionary movement undergirding it
