C'mon, do it
Convert all roads into rail systems. You have to board a trolly outside your house, and you progressively board other, bigger trains at-speed. Eventually you can just have a streams of never-stopping 12-lane maglevs constantly racing around your city.
In elementary school I dreamed of a queer communist utopia founded upon Black liberation as I read the entire works of Marx on the swing set. It gives me no pleasure to say my consciousness is bigger than yours.
just call it the "superloop" or something and get a grifter to pretend they invented trains.
you know maybe I'm still car brained but the interstate system is actually pretty cool, it would actually be wild to just turn it all into rail lines since it already goes pretty much everywhere ever
my state and probably others are expanding toll expressways so that they get away with limited funding of road expansions by making private companies front the cash but then they toll rights for 25 years or whatever. The interstate near me is doing just this and they really could've just added light rail in those center lanes where instead they're building the toll expressway.
Since it is such a vital artery, there are few if any other routes that you can take to traverse the city, and because of the construction has made the road one of the deadliest in the US.
In some places the grades are probably too steep for trains, so we'd need tunnels or cuts or different routes through mountains and hills.
It would absolutely kick ass if I could take a high-speed train to visit other states rather than a stupid cramped and noisy airplane. Hell I'd settle for regular old slow commuter rail in my area so I don't have to worry about some jackass cutting me off because they're texting while driving, and so I can read a book while commuting.
