    Banksy is pretty much the art equivalent of that scene in Life of Brian where he’s trying to tell everyone he’s not the messiah and the crowd agrees in unison but continues to repeat every word he says

          He's basically a court jester. One guy is allowed to criticize the king, as long as he's funny about it, so that then the king can act like it keeps him grounded. "Ah yes, that limerick about how my doo doo ass stinks worse than a stable of mules is really a metaphor about being pious and cleanly so I can better fulfill my mandate."
