Leftism (or whatever you want to call it, I'm trying to use the broadest term I can think of to not offend anyone) is basically the default position for any normal person. Ask a five year old child if a person with 100 empty houses should let 10 homeless people in so they don't die in the middle of winter and they will tell you yes. We all know what the right thing is, we are wired to care about fellow human beings because it helps our survival, it's literally in our blood.
The problem is capitalism has perfected propaganda to the point where people have their humanity trained out of them throughout their entire lives. Since day one we are told there's not enough resources and all those people with literally obscene wealth somehow deserve it. Even the rich understand they have too much, that's why they hide it even from themselves by using neutral terms like comfortable instead of rich and wealthy. Of course, some people are psychopaths and there are exceptions, but vast majority of people know right from wrong.
That's why leftism still exists despite all the propaganda. To get normal people to agree with a lefty idea, you don't have to change their mind, you just have to let them talk. Sooner or later, eventually they will say something you will agree on, encourage that idea. Let them convince themselves, tell them good things are possible.
