The game hasn’t come out yet, but what are your thoughts on what’s been shown?

I’ve got mixed feelings myself. Generally speaking, the reactions from many Reddit manchildren are embarrassing, but I think they also have a point. There seems to be fewer interesting features with each new release in the main series, each new game is easier than the last (though I think some have said the opposite is true of BDSP). These also look like they’re abandoning many of the things Platinum added to the originals. Though, if you think about it, it seems like the only things people will miss here are the Battle Frontier (which hasn’t been a thing for like 10 years) and the Distortion World. The Distortion World… wasn’t that just a twisty hallway?

Anyway, I guess the graphics look alright? I’m not the biggest fan of how bright and shiny everything looks, but w/e. Would’ve been nice to see this in the Sword/Shield engine though. Wild area Mt Coronet? Idk

For 60 bucks, it’s a bit steep for me when it’s basically the same game but with presumably more quickly paced battles. Maybe that makes it worth it for some? - DPPt truly is a slog to get through. And of course anyone who missed out on the originals for whatever reason will probably have fun.

As a casual sometimes buyer of Pokemon games, this one looks... exactly the same as all the others. I might buy it if the mood strikes me, Pokemon games are extremely comfy.

That said I wish that there were more Pokemon games not made by Game Freak. Temtem, Dragon Warrior Monsters, Yo-Kai Watch and others have all built on the Pokemon formula in different ways, but it seems like GF is afraid to change anything beyond swapping out the minigames from generation to generation.
