They're going to have Bajorans in the show, but instead of the old shows' style of ridged nose bridges, they'll be modeled after 1990's goth kid finger armor. and their ear piercings will be totally edgy and steampunk.

Which Star Trek is most often neither. Making good Trek requires ignoring a good amount of what usually makes good TV

That’s interesting, can you explain a bit more?

Yeah, that's exactly what it will be. That or broad Japanese stereotypes. They'll use swords now either way

"Season 4 of Star Trek: Discovery finds Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery faces a threat unlike any they've ever encountered. With Federation and non-Federation worlds alike feeling the impact, they must confront the unknown and work together to ensure a hopeful future for all."

Was this not already the plots for seasons 1-3?

I'm almost done DS9 and am deciding between Voyager and TNG. I've seen them all dozens of times, so my decision is well informed already when I make it.

I'm just glad that someone's getting paychecks at this point

if you still have any residual faith in media being good you're a fucking idiot who deserves to be disappointed. At least with slop, some boom mic operator gets to keep food on the table.

I'm really just baffled that the bean counters at Paramount let it keep going - how many people actually watching this show?

who cares, they don't have to disclose real numbers to anyone

they can say 100 million watched and nobody can call them out, that's the beauty. Even if they could, nobody wants to kill the golden goose.

There was blunt, boring exposition in that clip, and there was a lot of dick-riding the characters over how pure and good there are, but I'll refuse to believe it's STD until I see unnecessary violence and crying.

I should've gotten off the hype train sooner, but what did it for me was the bury-your -trans, and putting a black character into fucking slavery. Can we not have this shit happen? It's fucking Star Trek.

Lol did they kill off their one trans character after getting shit for killing off half of their gay cast, so much so that they brought him back to life.

I didn't know that's happened since. Lol they're just reproducing the problems of art beholden to capitalism

Star Trek Lucy is actually Lucille Ball, she's largely responsible for the show existing.

Most lib-brained of the Star Treks and absolute garbage as a result.

Will we be exploring interesting new planets, mysteries and cultures, and be forced to deal with complex ethical or political problems? No.

Will we be wanking ourselves raw over a thinly veiled analogy for the perfection of America and its constitution, which already resolved all ethical and political problems and stands only as a immutable model to be slavishly worshiped and followed? You bet!

I hate this show so fucking much. It's space West Wing :picard-direct-action:
