Okay I'm 7 episodes in and, hate me if you must, I don't mind it? The first few episodes it feels like it's trying too hard to be the anime, but as it moves along it becomes its own campy experience that's genuinely entertaining in its own right. There's a couple of genuinely touching moments and decent fight scenes where you can appreciate the athleticism. Its comedy is a bit formulaic but not entirely unfunny. If you can get your inner critic to shut up for all of 5 minutes and make it a point to enjoy the series, you'll find it's a lot easier than you'd initially think.
