Main course being jambalaya and crab legs with gluten free hushpuppies, deviled eggs w/ smoked fish, a lemon poached shrimp dip, French bread and baked corn pudding. My wife did the heavy lifting in the kitchen and I made hurricanes/kept the wine flowing

Utensils are for the PMC; real Leftists eat with their hands. Also, its frowned upon to eat fresh meals. Best practice: Leftists only eat leftovers at other people's house.

Come on, though. Just look at that picture. That is some hgtv shit. That is some "thinking about redoing the kitchen this year but our marble guy is all booked up and we don't want to go to any of the other marble guys in town" shit. Napkins aren't necessarily reactionary but those are literally gold napkins! in matching deflt napkin rings. That room is in the house from Get Out

Look, I like seeing a nice holiday setup as much as the next slob but lets at least be honest about the gold napkins crab feast and not be too quick to hop in with the 'obscene wealth is actually perfectly normal' talk when people wanna call it what it is, bitterness is all some of us have left after rent lol

Just checked it out. The food in OPs pic looks waay tastier. In any case Rockwell didn't show the napkins but I guess it's implied they're on the laps so they could be gold, idk, but besides that the two images actually make a good study of bougieness cause in almost every way that they differ, the Rockwell is more humble (room size, elaborateness of the table setting, window type, spread, silverware (the presumably silver tureen being an exception). A lot of that is due to the age ofc, styles change

Also everything in my picture is for show. My family never eats like this except for holidays when extended family is coming to visit. My parents are petty bourgeois putting on airs. This house is massive but so far in the sticks that a studio apartment in my neighborhood in the city costs an equivalent amount of money. The gold napkins are hilarious too when you realize that normally they don’t even use napkins with a meal they just keep a roll of paper towels nearby.

There’s something to be said about a 70 year gap between my pic and the Rockwell painting but I also think there’s a cultural difference in the facade put on by people trying to emulate a class lifestyle they can’t normally afford and going overboard because they weren’t raised in that class culture to have the “manners” of that class. I could write a book on my family’s weird political economy-caused psychological ticks
