each one is simply a tool for the food its meant to be used for, or foods are served around the utensils. places where chopsticks are prevalent meats and veggies are cut up into pieces that can be easily picked up by chopsticks. in usa you get a plate sized piece of meat and a fork and knife.

everywhere I know they eat soup with a spoon but they have all different types

im lactose intolerant so I eat cereal with a fork

Ancient Chinese people cooked on woks because it was more fuel efficient--this meant everything cut into small pieces to cook fast (also, Old Worlders didn't have access to huge hunks of meat)--because everything was small pieces, they could be eaten most easily with chopsticks, chopsticks are also way more efficient to produce

also, fork is easily the most pointless cutlery, especially if you're vegan. The only thing I can remember ever needing a fork for was to hold down slabs of meat while cutting them. Everything else can be done more easily with chopsticks
