Ignore the lib shit, I just want to reintroduce you people to how socialism and rearing livestock don’t have to oppose each other

i love that lib sources on this frame it as him just being a FREAK for milk rather than, like, a symbol of national prosperity enabled by scientific advancement in a previously very rural, hyperexploited country.

When writer Gabriel García Márquez, a close friend of Fidel Castro's, narrated a profile about him, he remarked how he had seen him finish a copious lunch taking no less than 18 spoonfuls of ice cream.

Castro eating all the dairy on Cuba with a giant spoon.

Also I'm reading a book by García Márquez right now which is kinda neat

Very funny that they specifically try to say the chef got ptsd from fidel's demands for... Having a milkshake every day, rather than the hundreds of times the CIA tried to poison his food, inducing hypervigilance about possible poison in every piece of food he cooked

We should probably still strive to build a society where animals don't get genetically altered to hijack their reproductive organs for food production at the expense of their health and wellbeing. Also, cows need to have calves to produce milk, so what are you going to do with the huge number of cow babies that are created along with the huge quantities of milk? Currently they just get killed.

I think the small embargoed nation should probably put genetically altering animals and using them as best as possible to feed their population as top priority and continue to do so. They took cattle and made a hybrid that can thrive in tropical climates and not only live, but be economically profitable.

In the abstract I agree, but wtf. Let Cuba have this, that shouldn't be the takeaway when the global south achieves something

I'm not going after Cuba here, I'm speaking in terms of end goals.

The original post explicitly said, "socialism and rearing livestock don't have to oppose each other".

It's important to say though that animal rights has no future under capitalism. Animal rights advocates should support AES regardless of whether or not those countries are pro-vegan.

I am sure Cuba is pro-vegan btw, just has some obvious reasons to meet all appetites best as possible.

The young pioneers even has a guide on veganism in Cuba. So if you wanna visit......well no excuses

Putting animals in tiny, solitary cages to prevent them from developing muscle is animal abuse
