A six week trial is planned, running through around January 15th. The prosecution rests after 9.5, arguably 10 days of witnesses. There's a three day break. The defense is supposed to have up to 35 witnesses. Now they're planning on resting as early as today and after only two days of witnesses. At the latest, they will rest on Monday. Closing statements will be as early as Monday. Has the defense purposefully thrown this case? What the fuck happened?
Going by the TrueAnon Twitter account the judge denied anonymity to several defense witnesses and most are now refusing to testify
EDIT: This wasn't quite true. It seems the defenses agenda was bullshit and fell apart under pressure. They didn't have all their planned witnesses ready, at least two refused to testify without anonymity, one refused to testify due to self-incrimination. It seems like the entire basis of their defensive strategy was going to be casting doubt on the veracity of the victims' memories and thus their testimonies.
This should be an easy guilty verdict.

How the fuck does that not get worked out at any point in the past year. That doesn't sound like something that they just do last minute.
As someone who knows nothing about this but likes guessing: maybe they knew that none of their witnesses would testify non-anonymously and were really banking on the judge eventually allowing anonymous testimony.
