Hypothetically, could a mimick turn into the beer, get drank by the barbarian, and then turn into a giant causing the barbarian to explode?
In 3.5 at least, if you're in a space that isn't big enough for you to change size, RAW you just...don't.
In games I run, mimics hate being covered in alcohol because it dissolves their sticky goo stuff, but can still be bribed with beer because it makes them feel great.
You lift the mimic-cup to your face and take a long drink
The mimic is stuck directly over your mouth and nose
You are now suffocating
