When I was in college YikYak was awful. It was all Trump people and they would often threaten to murder people on campus. There was no moderation. They all hung out there so anyone with differing opinions either stopped using it immediately or was drowned out. It was also a marketing tool for bands. I remember DJ Marshmello or whatever astroturfing it. Very diseased app. Wish that developer would go out of business.
I mean yeah the app is garbage, the thing is that these are still the very real opinions of real people. They might not share these opinions on other platforms but they still hold them deep down.
omg i completely forgot about yikyak, that shit was big when i was in college for a couple years i think around like 2013-2014. yeah, its just the worst people in your area voicing their pure, unadulterated dogshit takes. Americans in general are pretty horrible, but yikyak just concentrates the worst of them. Don't judge the entirety of humanity based on one horrible app.
