Idk what I expected, but not even this. Unless the ploy was to make me want to rewatch the other two sequels because in comparison they’re masterpieces. There was some symbolism still, there were half-decent dialogues, good soundtrack. None of that now, nothing at all, how the even fuck.

The sequels are legitimately good movies, especially Reloaded. I liked Resurrections, thought it was solid if only because of certain scenes that made some incredibly salient points. The sessions with the doctor exposed the emotionally alienating nature of psychotherapy in a way very few big(ger) budget movies do. The whole meta commentary about sequels and what 'Warner Brothers' wants was ballsy and pretty funny. The focus on love, especially between these two protagonists was something that was incredibly appropriate and something I really cherished because I absolutely love Trinity and the chemistry these two actors have. "This is the best thing I've done in a long time" was a great line.

To share my viewing, it was a breath of fresh air. I went in with no expectations and loved most of the film. The sound needed more after having seen Dune, and Jada's performance was fkn terrible (this needs a hard look from YMS since theyve covered the Smiths family being up their own ass). It seems Lana made this from her experiences and thoughts about the Matrix and didn't care to make something palpable for the masses.

What would have made it better for you?

Nothing, honestly. I expected nothing and got nothing. Felt like another pointless Hollywood sequel that did a few meta-mods about how shitty it is to do meta-sequels to justify it.

There are so many nods to leftist ideas in this film that you can't hate it that much right? I get it if you didn't enjoy it, but every time they mentioned "choices are not binary" alluding to how gender is not binary, nor should it be compared to a choice, hence being a correction on the original trilogy, that must have gotten at least some kind of positive reaction?

I found flaws with the film, mainly in the soundtrack, action scenes, and rushed ending with some out of place dialogue. But its also the first big budget film in a long time that was trying to genuinely incorporate leftist ideas.
