I know all the basic shit about it. The one thing that always confused me was why the soviets would let the nazis train in soviet territory, also did they really send military hardware to Germany? That would seem to be counter productive to their goal of preparing to fight the Nazis. Any legit info that someone could link that would shed light on this would be appreciated. When I try looking for a soviet, or even just more nuanced, perspective all I get is the "Nazis and Communusts are the same!" bullshit line I was taught in high school.

The Soviets didn't buy it at all. Molotov, the same Molotov from whom the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact receives its name, recounts in the book written about him called Molotov Remembers that everyone basically knew Germany was planning war, but just didn't know when. Like sorry my dude but that's about as primary a source as it gets.

The secret military exercises were set up during the weinmar republic, and were already going on before the nazis took power
