No I mean, I don't think they are doing shifts that long. Their union is pretty strong. So units are probably shared by two or three drivers

For real though being able to visually customise the bus you drive is awesome, jonker or no jonker.
It's true of I believe everywhere where buses are concessioned to private companies, so I believe most everywhere outside of Mexico City, Guadalajara and possibly Monterrey. Since buses outside of cities are managed (and I use that word loosely) by private companies with little oversight from the government, drivers can pimp the fuck out of their buses/vans, to the point of installing dark lights and high end speaker systems and transform them into literal party buses. Within cities, transport is administered by the government itself, particularly in Mexico City, so no pimped out buses there.
That is awesome. Our drivers only creative freedom is during sports time they can change the marquee to read "Go Lakers" or "Go Dodgers"

I love the Diablo Rojos in Panama. Used American school buses are shipped by barge and sold wholesale. They're then appropriated as intercity and cross-country buses that are extremely cheap, but colloquially called chicken buses because you'll sit next to farmers transporting their chickens. All of them are heavily decorated by their drivers, many using santeria themes or 1980s power metal aesthetics:
