This is such a multifaceted multilayered statement, and every facet and layer is chuddery.
It implies that manly men have manly force fields that prevent sexual assault and if those barriers fail that wasn't a "REAL MAN" at all.
It implies that it is somehow biologically impossible for men to get raped.
It implies that men shouldn't report rapes because they don't happen, or if they did happen, the fault was the rape victim's.
There's more, but I'm tired. :desolate:
The article says many male participants in therapy groups are veterans of Korea and Vietnam
:thinking-about-it: Wonder why that's the case....
Conditioning to create savage imperialists.
Having read through the article, Jesus Christ, word fail to describe just how bad the effect are. The fact that treatment is so hard to get for victims only makes it worse. I'd like to stand out this part of the article:
“One of the myths is that the perpetrators identify as gay, which is by and large not the case,” says James Asbrand, a psychologist with the Salt Lake City VA's PTSD clinical team. “It's not about the sex. It's about power and control.”
The majority of rapists are not homosexual, because it's not about sex, it's not about pleasure, it's about power.
But anyways, goes to show you how well the military treats people, even the privates that signed up to fight for it. The archived link to the article in case anyone is interested.
