Basically, I have some free time right now and thought I would produce some pro-socialist tech propaganda, so very little of it right now.

I'm thinking weekly hour long episodes. The first half is a highlight of an open source project/program. The second half will be a focused dive into a single tech company/startup. The point of the second half is the expose the toxic culture of Silicon Valley and its ties with economic imperialism.

Does this sound interesting to anyone?

I fear for the future of open source in these times. That would be nice. I'm using calyxOS, a variation of AOSP that is highly secure. Mobile open source platforms might be key here in the near future.

Cool idea! IMO switch the parts, that way you can expose a problem with the tech industry and and then follow it up by showcasing a hopeful project or effort that could make a difference.

Like that idea. Ties a narrative bow on an episode and has a wider appeal in the beginning. I just marked this in my notes. Thanks!

Hey comrade! That does sound interesting! Have you heard about the people's podcast yet? I'll dm you an invite link to the planning server if you like! You could absolutely put together an episode for it about this :D

Actually I'll just post it in this comment, anyone who's interested in helping put episodes together is welcome to join! It's the people's podcast, so come on in! https://discord.gg/3wrT4wa

I am probably part of your target demographic, and the second part about the imperialism of the tech industry sounds promising, but the open source thing doesn’t interest me unless it is related to fighting the issues or something.

For example, highlight open source replacements for evil tech. Or projects fighting against companies or projects. Or projects making free platforms to escape the tech monopolies. Or discussing opsec for organizers. That kind of thing.

In fact. I wouldn’t make it specifically about open source, and more about calls to action and things people can do to fight whatever tech imperialism you highlighted in the episode.

Also, I know all the left podcasts seem to run for an hour or more, but personally I find that too long. Especially when they are just unedited conversations.

Sounds like a cross between Trashfuture and Tech Won't Save Us. Definitely sounds interesting.
