I'd love it if Discovery had an actual trans character. Can you imagine how good the gender-affirming surgeries would be in the 23rd century? Like, Trek has already established they can do whatever they want to a human body.
I always loved this scene, but it’s so much more powerful after I realized I was trans.
Dax remains one of the strongest representations of the trans experience for me personally in media. I should dig around and see what kind of video essays / writing has been done on that.
