Secret societies are making a huge comeback in America. They were banished because they were harmful to democracy, but seeing as democracy is dead might as well grab power for power's sake.

They have two very powerful weapons: secrecy and deception. Secrecy: if nobody knows what you're doing, nobody can oppose you. Deception: fool your enemies into opposing the wrong thing.

Together these are exceptionally puissant. The Soviets mastered this with their "Maskirovka" with which they defeated the Nazis.
