It's true, mine's a landlord but he's so easy to sway into at least nominally believing things that he will say he's a socialist if I talk to him for 15 minutes.
lmao that's like my landlord, he was a socialist in college and he still kinda is, he actually tried to champion a proposal where renters could earn a stake in the property they rented.
Cool dude honestly. Hasn't raised my rent in like 10 years, he definitely gets a pass in any supposed revolution and who knows he kinda seems like he'd be a class traitor in an instant if shit goes down.
Sounds a lot like my dad then haha, he was involved in some independence movements in college and organized meetings, almost got expelled over it. I don't know how he does business but I've argued with him that if he can recognize capitalists have no right to exploit their workers for labor, why can't he recognize that he doesn't have any right to collect rent? But then the :brainworms: kick in.
As long as they still have beer I can abstain. I'd love to visit one day.
Least problematic Republican dad.
Zapatista writing is pretty neat, your dad might like it. It's often written in a detached, satirical, poetic style. Could be the start of de-Republicanization, eventually.
They are not Marxists (they are closer to Anarchists), but they are struggling for freedom, and everyone should support that. I donate $5 per month to them and everyone else should too.
Tell him to read the EZLN statement on ideology.
Also maybe try to get in discussion of the early 20th century labor movement. Communists were doing some real cool shit back then.
bit idea/business opportunity: some Chinese farmers with CCP-ties should brand themselves as anti-CCP and start selling their tea here
