We’re just gonna pretend like covid doesn’t exist anymore. Restrictions will lift, news reports will dwindle, cases will slowly stop being tracked and the public will move on. But the virus will still be here.

If our local hospitals are over capacity, and there are no beds available, will we even know? Sure there will be tiktoks or whatever but how are you supposed to know if it’s your hospital?

I think that just not acknowledging it, as opposed to doing nothing but still acknowledging it and providing data, is the most horrific outcome so of course this is what the monkeys paw did when our societies said “I wish I didn’t have to think about COVID anymore”

How are we ever supposed to get “back to normal” now? The world has inexorably and permanently changed for the worse, as always.

It's been clear for a while that the country would eventually just give up on covid, but I really didn't realize this would involve getting rid of case numbers and such entirely. That's what makes me most anxious out of all of this. If we're going to have continuous waves of covid I need to see when the wave is peaking and receding so I can plan doctor appointments, travel, etc. It's a real testament to how absolutely fucked this place is that they're not just neglecting the issue, they're being actively malicious towards anyone who wants to reduce their risk.

We still have case data… for now. I fully expect that reporting infrastructure to be dismantled though as our leadership has no foresight (if they did they wouldn’t be lifting mask mandates)

It's a risky move to lift mandates right as BA.1 is dying down and cases of BA.2 are cropping up nationwide. I don't really understand the timing unless they know for sure that BA.2 won't cause another wave, or if the idea is to get us innoculated to a total lack of mitigation efforts at a high point of infections.

"We don't have enough raw numbers to precisely calculate how many vaccinated people are dying in America. The reason for this, bluntly, is that most institutions are afraid to publicize data that could imply vaccines have limitations or the crisis is not heavily under control."

"There are also major data collection issues regarding breakthrough cases. However, many jurisdictions DO have this data and are either not reporting it or not reporting it in a way that's easy to find or understand. I've checked the CDC and all 50 states."

Yes, anything that promotes vaccine hesitancy is heavily censored by Big Tech. Say anything that contradicts the authorities and find that the algorithm doesn't recommend your content any more. Mess with the bull, get the horns.
