We’re just gonna pretend like covid doesn’t exist anymore. Restrictions will lift, news reports will dwindle, cases will slowly stop being tracked and the public will move on. But the virus will still be here.
If our local hospitals are over capacity, and there are no beds available, will we even know? Sure there will be tiktoks or whatever but how are you supposed to know if it’s your hospital?
I think that just not acknowledging it, as opposed to doing nothing but still acknowledging it and providing data, is the most horrific outcome so of course this is what the monkeys paw did when our societies said “I wish I didn’t have to think about COVID anymore”
How are we ever supposed to get “back to normal” now? The world has inexorably and permanently changed for the worse, as always.
It all feels like gas lighting to anyone that takes covid even a bit seriously. What are we supposed to do? I still try to stay as safe as possible, but I'll want to do things every now and then. Last weekend I went to the movies, tried to pick a showing that wasn't as crowded at least. That was okay, but I won't be doing it regularly. Next month I'll be flying to another country. I'm vaxxed/boosted, I'll be double masking and being super careful, so hopefully no issues there
Outside of that? I get groceries once a week, go to the laundromat once a week, and go to work... that's it lol. I guess that's life now
What are you masking with? If you're going to be in an interior space with stagnant air for extended periods of time, like a movie theater or a plane before the circulation system is running, the bullshit the CDC feed us of cloth layered over surgical is just not good enough.
KN95 for extended period of time situations and will have the cloth mask over it. Does the cloth mask not add anything at that point?
~60% of KN95s in the US are fake, so definitely check yours if you haven't. The cloth mask in the double-mask recommendation, AFAIK, is meant to improve the fit of the surgical mask. If you've got a good fit on your KN95 then it's redundant. You really have to be anal about the fit though because it's hard to feel the difference between e.g. 10% filtration leak and 1% filtration leak, but the difference in infection protection is very large when you're in a high exposure situation.
Worst country ever
Thanks for the heads up! I'll be sure to check when ordering them and my current masks.
As far as double masking with a cloth mask, then I'll just do that to make the fit as good as possible
