This com is criminally underutilized. I'm Wake. I've been using this name for months on vrchat/elsewhere, and it felt appropriate to use it here.

I guess I've been here since the subreddit. I have a bunch of hobbies, most of which have been ADHD hyper fixations at some time. I like video games, movies, and I really like to listen to music. I especially enjoy finding new music.

I work in an industrial setting where I diagnose, and repair industrial machines and automatic systems. So I really like to figure things out. I've been taking things apart to see how they work since I was a little kid.

Most of the video games I play now are casual co-op games I can play with my friends like lethal company, valheim, phasmophobia. I also play a lot of driving and racing sims. But more than anything, the game I enjoy the most is vrchat.

I have a weekly vrchat adventure with one of my best friends. I guess you can say I'm an honorary furry at this point, since all my vrchat avatars are furry. I really enjoy editing and tweaking my avatar until it's exactly how I want it.

I changed accounts because about a week ago I realized I was much more trans than I thought I could ever be. That I'd been lying to, and hiding from myself for a decade. It's incredible how much transphobia you can absorb and internalize while also being gay and extremely lgbtq positive. So I wanted to make a new account to grow into. A nice delineation so to speak.

I guess at this point I'm just rambling so howdy, it's been so nice to have you all in my life. And wherever you are, know I love you and you're appreciated. meow-hug

I was saving up for a new headset right about the time that the quest pro dropped down to $900. So I talked my husband into letting me get it. I had been using a vive cosmos for 2 years at that point. Face and eye tracking were the main reasons I got it. It works really well. Setting it up on the avatar can be a pain. But the app that runs in the background is very user friendly.

I don't think I could ever go back now hahahaha. It's so cool to be able to make faces and actually react. It does make it hard to zone out because everyone can see where you're looking at though. Let me see if I can find the face I was making that made me laugh in that pic. I saved it somewhere

As someone who is terrible at doing gesture expressions, face tracking sounds amazing. Seems like it would add to the immersion quite a bit and make interactions feel much more like you’re there in person.

Here's the face I was making when I cracked myself up. The immersion is kinda crazy. The face tracking setup I got lets you control the ears with your expressions. There is a lag tho And you are limited by how well you can set up blendshapes or the person that makes it can set them up. I bought this setup from gumroad from a user that has a bunch of avatars they've set it up on. They're name is Jerry'sFT or something like that. I can link it tomorrow. But I can not recommend it enough.

Nice! I can't wait to try it myself at some point. Also thinks for the tip on the gumroad page. Doesn't look like there's an Arkoshark there, but maybe it could happen in the future or maybe it wouldn't be too difficult to adjust one of the others to fit.

There is a request section on the creators discord. If there is enough interest, they might do a module for it. Otherwise, I guess it's not that hard to set up the blendshapes yourself if you have experience with blender and unity.
