This com is criminally underutilized. I'm Wake. I've been using this name for months on vrchat/elsewhere, and it felt appropriate to use it here.

I guess I've been here since the subreddit. I have a bunch of hobbies, most of which have been ADHD hyper fixations at some time. I like video games, movies, and I really like to listen to music. I especially enjoy finding new music.

I work in an industrial setting where I diagnose, and repair industrial machines and automatic systems. So I really like to figure things out. I've been taking things apart to see how they work since I was a little kid.

Most of the video games I play now are casual co-op games I can play with my friends like lethal company, valheim, phasmophobia. I also play a lot of driving and racing sims. But more than anything, the game I enjoy the most is vrchat.

I have a weekly vrchat adventure with one of my best friends. I guess you can say I'm an honorary furry at this point, since all my vrchat avatars are furry. I really enjoy editing and tweaking my avatar until it's exactly how I want it.

I changed accounts because about a week ago I realized I was much more trans than I thought I could ever be. That I'd been lying to, and hiding from myself for a decade. It's incredible how much transphobia you can absorb and internalize while also being gay and extremely lgbtq positive. So I wanted to make a new account to grow into. A nice delineation so to speak.

I guess at this point I'm just rambling so howdy, it's been so nice to have you all in my life. And wherever you are, know I love you and you're appreciated. meow-hug

I love this so much!! My husband will 100% relate to this. Maybe this will be his trigger to make an account here finally.

Howdy and welcome, so glad to have you here! 🤗

I'm lucky to have found a job that fits my weird obsession with figuring out how machines work. Tell him to make an account and post in diy the next weird project he gets into. I'd love to see it. Thank you for being here and making this weird place a little better.

Oooo I usually just use frozen dough. But I really like homemade dough. Did you make a pizza or are you doing an overnight proof or something?

If you want a super good dough recipe, remind me on Wednesday when I'm back at work. I work at a fancy Italian restaurant that's mostly about good pizzas. The recipe makes like thirty 11 inch pizzas worth of dough so I'd downsize and there's some specifics notes I'll add. You'll need to make foolish, which is easy as hell but you need to let it set overnight before making dough and then another night to proof when it's made but it's top tier neapolitan style dough

What type of flour is used in your recipe? I've recently been messing around with 00 and semolina/cornmeal

I've actually come to like the more 'breadiness' of bread flour vs 00 so I might switch away from 00

Just regular white ass flour, we toss the dough in semolina before stretching so it doesn't stick to the counter (which is also coated in semolina) or the peel

Thanks for coming back to post (and mod!). Care-Comrade

Also I gotta say “Wake” is an incredibly cool name and I love the (I assume new?) avatar.

I haven’t done much with my avatar lately, though I did just add this cool gun prefab which I still need to test out.

*Wake" is an incredibly cool name

Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I love my name but I have the worst kind of imposter syndrome where I think everything I do is stupid so omg thank you!!!!!!!!

The avatar is a novabeast. I guess that base is the new popular one and I do love a good trend. It's partially responsible for cracking my egg though. It's such a cute avatar. I got it about two weeks ago, and I haven't really done anything to it. So the colors and markings will eventually change. The pic I shared was from when I got the face tracking working for the first time and I cracked myself up making faces. That pic is legit a heartfelt laugh I was having.

That gun is awesome! Who made it? I have a sniper rifle from liindy, as well as a few others from them. The nice part about the nova is that most of my nardo and rex clothes fit without a lot of futzing.

I’m not too familiar with the novabeast tbh, but it looks absolutely gorgeous.

The pic I shared was from when I got the face tracking working for the first time and I cracked myself up making faces.

Neat! I’ve always been curious about face tracking. Seems to work pretty well I take it? Also is this the Vive face tracker or is there another option out now?

That gun is awesome! Who made it?

It’s the “Sci-Fi Gun” made by Pointless Creations. In addition to stuff like that, they also have a lot of cool free assets on their Gumroad page, like this bubble gun which I also have on my avatar: https://pointlesscreations.gumroad.com/l/BubbleGun?layout=profile

Liindy makes some pretty amazing stuff. As a matter of fact, the holosight on that sci-fi gun is a Liindy creation. I’ve also played around with the magic user essentials which is very well done, and some of the swords/blades on the Gumroad page look especially cool.

I was saving up for a new headset right about the time that the quest pro dropped down to $900. So I talked my husband into letting me get it. I had been using a vive cosmos for 2 years at that point. Face and eye tracking were the main reasons I got it. It works really well. Setting it up on the avatar can be a pain. But the app that runs in the background is very user friendly.

I don't think I could ever go back now hahahaha. It's so cool to be able to make faces and actually react. It does make it hard to zone out because everyone can see where you're looking at though. Let me see if I can find the face I was making that made me laugh in that pic. I saved it somewhere

As someone who is terrible at doing gesture expressions, face tracking sounds amazing. Seems like it would add to the immersion quite a bit and make interactions feel much more like you’re there in person.

Here's the face I was making when I cracked myself up. The immersion is kinda crazy. The face tracking setup I got lets you control the ears with your expressions. There is a lag tho And you are limited by how well you can set up blendshapes or the person that makes it can set them up. I bought this setup from gumroad from a user that has a bunch of avatars they've set it up on. They're name is Jerry'sFT or something like that. I can link it tomorrow. But I can not recommend it enough.

Nice! I can't wait to try it myself at some point. Also thinks for the tip on the gumroad page. Doesn't look like there's an Arkoshark there, but maybe it could happen in the future or maybe it wouldn't be too difficult to adjust one of the others to fit.

There is a request section on the creators discord. If there is enough interest, they might do a module for it. Otherwise, I guess it's not that hard to set up the blendshapes yourself if you have experience with blender and unity.

At the recommendation of another user here, I've been playing the 2014 assetto corsa on PC. The modding community for that game is great, and the graphics look amazing for a 10 year old game. I think it was under $10 during the most recent steam sale. I also play BeamNG and Dirt2.0. I tried iracing but it costs too much money and is slightly too serious for me. I am not a super competitive person, so I like to do free-roams on big maps, and setting hot laps on various tracks.

I've been playing racing games since way back when I got a PS1 and gran tursimo. I also used to do autocross IRL for a few years in my 20s.

I've thought about seeing if anyone here would be interested in a casual racing league or maybe a hotlap leaderboard.

What about yourself? Do you play racing games or something else?

I assume you must have played in the Shutoko free roam map in AC1? It's probably the best out there imo, I like to hop into a car and explore the map from time to time, it's a fun and relaxing experience for me. Plus it reminds me a lot of the old Special Stage Route X type levels of Gran Turismo, from 1 to 4.

Their online servers are pretty chill, there's always someone who drives at night without headlights and crashes into everyone but it's part of the fun I guess!

Have you ever played GTR2? I bought it a couple of months ago and had a blast driving in it. It's an old sim for sure but it still holds up to the newer ones, especially the AI. It's pretty much unbeatable in terms of enjoyment, plus it has early 2000s GTs, probably the last good era of GTs.. at least for me.

Yeah it was the shutoko map that got me into ac1. I've never tried out the GTR games, they look really good. In AC1, I've been really enjoying using vintage cars on some of the fan made vintage courses. Something about cars like the Alfa 33 being rung out on a gorgeous track really gets me going.

Hell yeah, I hear you! Vintage racing >>>> modern racing by far. Check this Youtube Channel out (In case you haven't seen it yet), this guy features a lot of classic and vintage content, from roleplaying as a driver in the 1950s to driving 1920s era race cars or historic NASCAR races, he's pretty chill too.

AC1 does the vintage part really well, especially with modding. I just wish I was a better driver though lol, because these machines are really hard to drive.

That channel is cool as fuck. I watched that isle of man tt vid and its so cool how he just kinda explains exactly what he's doing. I love when other races do that because it help me learn better ways to approach tracks myself. Especially on long road courses.

these machines are really hard to drive.

You're telling me! I've been trying to get the Alfa 33 Stradale around Battenbergring in under 4:50. But that track is so easy to mess up on. It's absolutely gorgeous, but there are so many little things to get hung up on. So the margin of error is so tight in some sections. And that Alfa is such a rewarding car to drive.

I have a vid of me posting my fastest lap around that track with the Alfa, if your interested.

Yeah, I play iRacing the most, but also Assetto Corsa, especially the freeroam maps, and sometimes BeamNG. Played Dirt Rally 1 and 2 to death when they were released, so I got pretty bored of the stages that were in both games. EA Sports WRC seems interesting, but Steam reviews keep talking about the stuttering, so I'm waiting until they release another patch.

I'm waiting for wrc to get actual VR support before I get it. I bought it the day it came out, and got extremely disappointed that it didn't have VR support yet. It said it did in a lot of the advertising for it, so I was shocked to learn it wasn't set up yet. So I returned it and said I'd get it again once it was all sorted out.

Do you use a wheel? If so, what do you use?

Yeah, I figured that was probably you.

I just use a budget Thrustmaster wheel and pedals, but might upgrade in the near future. A set of load cell pedals would already be an improvement.

I've been using a g27 with H-shifter and pedals that I've had for like 6 years now. The shifter started to have problems with 5th gear about a month ago, so I got a no-name Amazon H-shifter. It works great.

I just bought a moza R9 base earlier this week. I swapped my cheap 350mm wheel to it but I haven't had a lot of time yet to really try it out yet. I'll be putting it through the ringer later tonight though.
