I was at almost a pack a day of cigarettes before I started vaping. Still hopelessly addicted to nicotine though. Went cold turkey for a solid month last summer and picked it up again simply because I missed it.
cigs from 18-23ish, vaping from 23-28. Daily, near constantly. Just tried nicotine pouches (on!) and havent vaped in over a week. Barely any desire to. Highly recommend.
But wouldn't you say those patches are just another addiction, like vaping replacing cigarettes?
And personally, I don't think it would work for me. I got over the hardest part of addiction that one month in the summer, and still went back just because I liked the activity of smoking something.
I don't know. I want to try again sometime, maybe when there's less shit going on. Lol, always an excuse though eh
if its just the action you could try finding some kind of (relatively) healthy vape juice that is ONLY propylene glycol or whatever, and then flavoring!! since propylene glycol is used in food and is generally one of the safest food additives or consumable items that isnt necessarily a food itself, youre still going to be better of than smoking even if you vaped nicotine juice.
ive quit smoking for periods of time not much longer than a few weeks max with the patches before and they absolutely do not replace the addiction of smoking with another. for one; the patches have a much longer half life because the route in which the nicotine is entering your blood stream is entirely different than how it enters when combusting tobacco and inhaling that smoke. also, patches you just slap on and forget about and thats it. yes they stop any physical "withdrawal" symptoms as well as many psychological ones (because obviously youre still getting nicotine) but youre obviously breaking that addiction with just the actions and needing constant smoke breaks and etc......
plus they are made in tapering strengths because theyre intended to be gotten off of once youve been wearing them for around 6 weeks (2 weeks with each strength i think idk its been several years) so thats not even really much time at all especially considering how much time its going to add back onto your life over all (from quitting i mean, i dont mean as a result of wearing those fuckers. also MAN do those things ITCH!!!!!!!! that drove me crazy!!!)
Yeah that oral fixation is tough. I honestly didn't even plan on switching I just on a whim got some pouches. Yes absolutely an addiction but I'm appreciating how my lungs feel, harm reduction (until I get gum cancer or something lol).

Yeah, might not be a bad idea to quit cold turkey again and just get some nicotine-free shit so I don't get fully hooked again. It's hard.
