First of all solidarity with the regular Ukrainians who will have their lives fucked up by this conflict, but god I hope this finally ends the era of left-ish people posting about Putin being an epic anti-imperialist or owning Nazi Ukraine.

Shouldnt support Russia at all its a capitalist state. Opposing further Western intervention in the conflict is more than enough.

I don’t see how you could possibly argue that either the Iraqi people or the world were actually better off with US intervention.

You dont see it specifically because nobody is arguing that. You say that opposing American entry into the war is a useless position as it isnt practical, and your practical alternative is supporting the Russian side? Not only is getting any significant portion of Americans for that 1000x more far fetched, but if you get them to support anything, non-intervention which exacerbates this situation would clearly be the move. Unless you are actively invested in Russia's own Capitalist imperial project, unpopular both in Russia and Ukraine, which you clearly are. I'm glad you brought up Iraq because once again it highlights how ridiculous this position is, why would you support Russia starting an Iraq on its doorstep?

You're the one who framed this in terms of practicality by talking about how useless supporting neither power, if that's not a concern for you don't bring it up. Zero understanding about how imperialism works and the changing conditions which base the form American Imperialism has taken after WW2. Russia is an imperialist power just like United States, incredible to mention US intervention in their sphere of influence and not see this for what it is. You are completely divorced from reality, I'm not wasting more of my time talking to you.

How do you explain this concept to people who are conservative? Do you try to tell them that the US shouldn’t be involved? That it was our fault for arming Nazis there and using an irrelevant nato to posture against Russia even though they are not the the USSR anymore?

I have some conservative national guard douches in my fire academy class and need to be prepared for when I go to class.

Chuds will always support intervention that's kind of a lost cause. If they bother you about it just cite the long list of disasters which US involvement in foreign wars creates.

Oh man. Where do I even begin? I need to read up more on our interventions in Latin and South America to just name drop them over and over.

Remains to be seen if Russia is going to bomb all of Ukraine's infrastructure... I really hope they don't, and I doubt they will.

I had been seeing a few "Putin is so cool" posts around here and I was feeling like I was losing my mind. Like, this is the same guy who was Yeltsin's successor, who is taking advantage of the capitalist plundering of the former ussr. Being antagonistic to the US does not make you automatically right.

Fully agree. Especially baffled at the notion that Russia is motivated by or is going to help with Ukraine's Nazi problem.
