G/O Media group, after multiple and well-documented decisions designed to break both the union and the employees there, have declined to renew the GMG Union contract. Management simply refused to negotiate the now-expired contract with the union, and the GMGUnion has no choice but to strike.
This isn't a case of management making an insulting low-ball offer - they simply just avoided it, and have absolutely brought this about directly.
Whether or not you agree with any of the editorial viewpoints at the various sites GMGUnion members work at, everyone deserves fair wages, benefits, a safe and inclusive workplace, and comprehensive health care.
Please show your solidarity by not visiting Gizmodo, Kotaku, The Root, Jezebel, Lifehacker, or any of the other G/O sites. And if you can, think about donating to their strike fund.
The Root is anti-racist, Jezebel is feminist, what gives?
The interests of capital will always be anti-worker, even if their product is the rope
