Had a full night's sleep and hit the rower for 20 minutes. I think one of the bigger stumbling blocks right now is lack of a good workout playlist. So far I've been listening to the basic ol' reliable 80s montage music (Eye of the Tiger, Holding Out For A Hero, Gunna Fly Now, Best Around, etc) but I'm looking to mix it up so please, any suggestions/recommendations would be welcome!
You only lose if you stop all together! One missed day isn't the end of the world and you shouldn't feel defeated! As long as you get back on that horse you can't lose!
Some of the old communist anthems are pretty powerful and motivating for me, like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFzu_w7d9W0
I can send some more if you're interested
I like to listen to chill stuff or podcasts when I row. One of the things that helps me is “no hype,” like if you push yourself every time you workout blaring loud music etc you will eventually burn out. Slow and steady and all that.
If you are primarily rowing you should read this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Rowing/comments/5hohig/a_brief_guide_to_steady_state/
When I was rowing a lot, that helped drop my splits dramatically. It’s all about steady state, which is keeping heart rate in that 120ish range at 16-18 srokes per minute for longer durations. I liked 2x5k with just a brief break to stretch the back
That's good advice, I definitely am the type to push myself and burn out early, I'll look into it and try to implement a more slow-and-steady approach!
