Youtube is honestly unusable without recommendations, without logging in looking at the main page is like staring into the Ark of the Covenant

yes, it helps not being addicted, also manual refresh when you a free is less stressful
You can see the comments and the default recommendations the video has, you just can't post your own bad takes or get personalized recommendations.
I recommend getting newpipe with sponsorblock, an unofficial fork with sponsorblock.
