Americans treat domestic politics like the Old Testament and the New Testament.
Political violence is the Old Testament - it was necessary back then when monarchs oppressed pilgrims and chattel slavery was legal, and its purpose has been fulfilled after gaining independence and "winning" the civil war. Now we live in New Testament America where cool headed politicians preach about peace and happiness, and you’re expected to follow them blindly, but when political violence is imposed on the followers from the heathens, you turn the other cheek and simply vote.
