It's more common in conservative areas for whatever reason. When I was a kid, chuds would throw beer cans full of drip at us from their lifted trucks.
I still see dip here in the rural south, but i literally can not remember the last time I saw chew.
Wait, there's a difference between dip and chew? I thought dip was when you spit out the tobacco sludge from chew. In case you can't tell, I never did either hah
they're basically the same idea, but chew is literally chewed. You spit with both of them.

Yeah, dip is just stuff you place on your gums or inside the lower lip mouth area, still disgusting but chewing tobacco is something else.

The only guy I know who still chews tobacco is a retired, like over 70 years old. Picked it up through his old job as a gardener long long time ago.
