The romanticization of that chaos is a way for them to live out the feelings that they’ve repressed to get where they are. Their anxieties are about keeping their wealth because that’s the last material concern they have left. Joker doesn’t give a shit about maintaining anything. Has nothing and still spends the movie digging himself deeper.
