I've never even heard that phrase. Who says that kind of garbage? It's also just plain wrong, you'll still get paid for doing the minimum, i.e. your responsibilities, while some nerd who does extra work for no reason can easily get ignored for promotions because they don't communicate that they're doing "extra".

Also you should feel good when you accomplish something and screw anyone that craps on it. They're toxic.
