Some does. I happen to love a good rye whiskey. I would absolutely never put coke into a good whiskey. Cocktails exist entirely to mask the taste of shitty alcohol
Sugar is bad but Coke zero makes the drink taste awful for me. If I wanted to limit my calorie intake I shouldn't be drinking in the first place (rum has like 250 cal/100ml)
Straight rum, yeah, but most common brands available do have some added sugar unless otherwise specified e.g. Captain Morgan, Malibu Rum, Bacardi Rum (except for Light and Gold which have 0g). My diabetic father-in-law just tends to avoid rum in general because it's too much hassle making sure it's one without any added sugars.
...they're the SAME THING?
Untrue. A Cuba Libre is a rum & coke with lime.
A rum & coke is just OK. But that squeeze of lime makes it sing.
Oh, and use Coke Zero, kids. Sugar is bad for you.
Doesn't coke zero use aspartame though?
Yeah, ill stick with sugar.
It also has phosphoric acid, which will dissolve a penny. Still better than sugar.
Sugar is always the worst option. Aspartame actually isn’t as bad as they used to think it was.
Even if aspartame wasn't as bad as sugar, and it is, it is also the most disgusting substance I've ever tasted
Just cuz the flavor is shit doesn’t mean it’s as bad for you. Aspartame doesn’t cause diabetes.
We're talking about drinking alcohol. Covering the taste of shitty alcohol is the whole point.
I don’t drink diet by itself but with alcohol it’s already gonna be shit so mine as well cut down on the calories.
What are you, 18? Alcohol tastes awesome.

I don't really notice the difference with Coke Zero. It still has that acid taste that goes so well with alcohol.
Sugar isn't about the calories, it's about what it does to your body. Calories are so 80s. Sugar is a lot worse than we ever thought it was.
If that's the case, it's probably best to not have rum in the first place, because it's made by fermenting sugarcane
And the sugar is consumed in the fermentation process.

Most bars I go to when I order a rum and Coke, they put a lime in it.
