Local :reddit-logo: is bursting with them right now due to some college swimmer or something. So so so so many "I support trans people / think they deserve a place in society / have a trans friend BUT (transphobia)"

Seen someone talking about Micheal Phelps' natural biological advantages and that seems to shut them up, but other dunks would be appreciated

Sometimes, possibly due to situation or person, you don't want to have this conversation.

You can preemptively derail the argument by making it about technological advantage in sports, rather than the usual transphobic screed. A ski jumper using their puffy coat to catch more air, a swimmer using a particularly aerodynamic cap, the make and model of a relayist's sneakers - simple things to bring up that can reorient the whole conversation. Why don't the Olympics provide standardized equipment? Or just do everything in the nud like ye Greeks of olde? Bonus points if you can subtly suggest that proximity to money is usually the actual deciding factor in competition.

Most transphobes aren't prepared for this, and most politically disengaged folks are just as willing to follow this line of thought as they are the transphobe's.
