can you imagine if we turned all that shit into apartments and public community spaces? what if we made the business districts of cities into nice places to hang around :sicko-biker:

That is happening in places… but it’s much too limited too restrictive and too slow.

For all the terrible fucked up shit about it Hudson Yards is actually a very nice space in terms of public areas and walkability. If it weren’t for the asset-style living spaces being the main point of it and dev money thievery from poor neighborhoods I would be… ok with it.

My office would make a LOVELY apartment for low income/homeless individuals, too bad I probably won't live to see that happen

don't most companies rent that space anyway? why would they want to keep renting, are they dumb or is it just class solidarity with the glass dildo owners?

I actually saw the opposite happening: all those shinny dildos are still empty months after "get back to work dipshits"

idk, I just hate those glass dildos. They represent everything that went wrong with humanity.

it def does! if people don't want office space, then rents go down. most of these buildings are highly leveraged with debt, and if they can't hit their projected income targets, then they may have to default on their debt. if they default on their debt, it could have a major impact on capitalism as a whole. office buildings are, as a rule, the most expensive properties, and the ones that pre-covid were thought of as quite stable. it's where "smart money" is parked, like life insurance, the remaining pension plans etc etc
