"steven hawking could do super science and HE couldn't even move! you're just looking for excuses for being lazy!"
so tired
so fucking sick of people comparing everyone that struggles with disabilities/neurodivergent thought processes to some madlad that figured out how to throw spears using their right testicle because their arms stopped working
like god just give people some space to deal with having a harder time than other people at some stuff
Steven Hawking was a literal one in a million genius and his intellect and personal development largely occured before he became paralyzed + he had the full support of his (wealthy) family and the loads of people who realized that maybe letting a rare talent like him languish was a bad idea
:think-mark:
So much capitalist-supporting ideology is based on exceptionalism, which always has an unspoken but glaringly obvious implication that the majority that aren't the exception can fuck off and die.
Spot on. Those same fucks think that people are gaming Social Security Disability to mooch and they could probably still work. Disability is $800 a month in most cases. Housing is not guaranteed. If you win the housing voucher lottery (death to America for that shit) you still owe at least 25% of your monthly earnings. Being disabled in America is so much worse than most people will ever understand.
Steven Hawking was on the island :epsteingelion:
All of you are better than that however much you can do :meow-hug:
When some /r/UpliftingNews or /r/GetMotivated bazinga brain links a video showing someone with no legs shingling a roof, I suspect that the demoralization is the point. I think they get off to perseverance porn and want everyone who isn't shingling roofs with no legs (themselves included) to be miserable enough by comparison to want to haze others the same way.
Most people really do unironically believe we live in the best of all possible worlds and the consequences of that line of thought are truly horrific.
