i've brought my copy of capital purely as an intimidation tactic let's see how this shit goes

:bruh: moments

2-minute disclaimer on how the soviet union wasn't actually marxist. Good for the libs, not good for me trying to radicalize them past :funny-clown-hammer:ism.

"lotta marxists say real marxism has never been tried" hell of a lot more libertarians talking about crony capitalism tbh

"marx has to be read in context of the time he was in because it's not as bad now guys"

he won't call on me anymore since i'm too in the know :sadness:

2 minutes on a single question since only the communist manifesto was assigned and there's like 7 people here.

he called the LTV the "Lockeian Theory of Value" :agony-shivering:

i want to bring up the trpf so bad he's not calling on me :deeper-sadness:

"locke's value theory of labor" help :kitsuragi-depress:

resorting to holding up the trpf wiki page like im a creepy stalker 80s movie protagonist holding a boombox at a manic pixie dream girls window :sadness-abysmal:

i miss my 300 political economy class at least my weird dormmate maoist banters with me in it, there's so much dead air

he finally called on me but i just unironically pulled "sense of pride and accomplishment" as an answer to a question where it should have been an answer (in the topic alienation of labor and its consequences) but i feel really bad about doing it god damn :pain:

good points

talking about the inherent coercion of capitalism and the fact that capitalist freedom aint free

HE DID IT HE SAID THE PHRASE 'SURPLUS VALUE'

talking about surplus value and profit being the same and also profit being exploitation

talking about how global south more likely to revolt due to exported production

talking about how full automation doesnt change need for labor

HE DID IT HE SAID THE PHRASE 'ALIENATION FROM LABOR'

expanding to alienation from our bodies and very thought :lets-fucking-go:

i'm interjecting in dead air to bring up the most radicalizing connection points and he is expanding on them :sicko-wholesome:

talking about ideology and the taboos against talking salary

lecture was fine and i managed to delay the ivory tower deboonking enough with theory field redirections that we ran out of time before we could discuss them :wholesome:

"i’ve brought my copy of capital purely as an intimidation tactic let’s see how this shit goes" I knew you would come through. I think you need to dress up as Che for the next lesson

The only history-related class I didn't hear anti-communist propaganda was a Latin-American studies course with an absolute legend who went to Nicaragua in the 80's and spent an entire lesson giving us advice on how to get to Cuba.

If you are very determined to #resist, having some Richard Wolff and Parenti quotes picked out could come in handy.

TBF, Locke did have a proto-labor theory of value. Marx didn't invent it from whole cloth.

S/o to my Hegelian philosophy professor that gave Marx a very reasonable place in his 19th century course and let us debate a guy who thought Marx bad because Marx v. poor.
