People online have a bad habit of larping like any red or black army actually exists or is even likely to exist in the near term. Saying stuff like never organize with X group as though there aren't already few enough leftists out here to begin with.

We're so far from the point where we can even imagine what faction of the left will claim a majority in any hypothetical revolution and people are arguing about China or "red-fash" nonsense when we have a crumbling empire right at our feet that needs us to organize and unite.

We have a hell of a lot of work to do both in outreach and education and must provide a clear alternative to reactionary groups for the masses losing faith in the legitimacy or efficacy of liberal capitalism before we start rehashing 100 year old ideological beefs.

The tankies aren't going to murder you, there's no impending revolution for the anarchists to betray and thinking that the exact same historical conflicts and mistakes will be inevitably repeated is defeatist and anti-materialist.

A better world is possible. None of us can accurately say how or when we will get there but unless we get our shit together it will be to late. Maybe it already is too late, maybe the world has already ended but we have to at least try.

    Good post :rat-salute:

Also, I think maybe we do shit on trots a bit too much sometimes? I'm not one myself, but I do respect groups like :SAlt: and the various trot websites out there that collect and publish important stuff like marxists.org.

Also Posadas was a trot, and I'm like 99% sure Roddenberry based the lore of Star Trek on his ideas, so maybe we owe them a little credit for helping with that as well.

Someone on here yesterday was saying Roddenberry was a Maoist lol.

Also I'm reminded of a nice boomer comrade that said she was a Trotskyist and that "Lenin was just too violent" like wtf?!

WTF she think permanent revolution entailed lol.

Yep, that's according to his ex-wife I guess, so it seems solid. However, the backstory of Star Trek is just too similar to Posadism to be a coincidence imo. Nuclear war, aliens bringing communism, telepathic communication with dolphins and whales, etc. It's all there, so I'm thinking Roddenberry must have came across it at some point and thought it would make a good tv series.

It sure did. Douglas Adams seems to have come to a similar conclusion.

Pretty sure both Stalin and Mao would have rejected being "representatives of Marxism" too, so it's funny they feel the need to say that since it is itself a bit like lib great man theory.

Trots get a lot of shit for criticising AES states but their analysis tends to be correct (one example is when a trot union wrote last spring that tampering with the currency in a crisis for Cuba will harden the shortages and strengthen regime change efforts where everyone was like "be gone trot", cause they dropped a few "Cuba isn't necessarily communist" comments but basically what happened was exactly what they predicted).

I think trots aren't an issue in general but since maybe the "talked tradition" in the internet is west centric and trot or trot based development and groups in Europe and the US were more often than not (anf not just cause ml parties slandered them) kinda garbage in electoral and rhetorical approach, coalitions and spin offs, even compared to "orthodox ml" parties, the convo is tainted from there. Like Chavez amd a lot of his party began and was a "trot" and no one brings it up or cares
