it’s “even if denazification were a russian war aim, that would be reprehensible because these are wholesome nazis who just want to defend themselves”

Eh, I mean if Poland had crossed the Rhineland and invaded Germany, surrounded Berlin, and dropped artillery across half the country in order to reclaim the Rhineland, I feel like the historical conversation about Nazi Germany would be a bit different in the modern day.

From the eyes of the Americans, Germany's big sin in 1939 wasn't the domestic holocaust. It was reigniting a world war across Europe on the eve of a US-lead neoliberalization.

And since the neoliberals got to write all the history books... Yeah, if Germany hadn't pushed into Poland and kicked off another world war, Hitler wouldn't be any worse off than Franco or Chiang in the US political lexicon.

So they’re gonna start accusing Russia of genocide soon, right?

Oh shit yeah it’s happening. Soon they’ll stop asking whether it ought to be called genocide or letting Zelensky do it and they’ll just be passively referring to the situation as “The Russian Genocide in Ukraine”

They should have just called it "De-Baathification". Hell, just crib directly from a GWB Jr speech with word-replacement s/Iraq/Ukraine/g.
