This, it's the main reason why so many black gamers enjoy fighting games, it comes from arcade roots. Fuck, I miss arcades.
Don't know how true that is from the '70s and '80s. Every image and video from an arcade of that time was white as hell. Maybe just the people who could afford cameras and/or had new doing stories in arcades at the time was predominantly white. Also fighting games didn't even exist until late-'80s. And I don't see any "black people love brawlers" that dominated just before that, or "black people loved Space Invaders clones" before that.
