everyone in every city around the world does this, pretty much. except the English outside of London. they think every city in England is shit, including their own and London. and every foreign city is shit, because it's foreign. except for Sydney, which is a nice place to go on holiday.
I think it might have to do with the fact that unlike most countries rural living in the UK is insanely expensive. A lot of the ideas pushed of the stereotypical quintessential English life is like cottages and small village life etc. This is impossible to achieve for the majority as like 99% of UK land is privately owned and very expensive so instead we all just live in cities and are mad about it.
