I hate the Melvins. Buzz is fucking annoying as a person, and as a songwriter, every album they've ever put out is composed of 1, maybe 2 good songs and the rest filler. Their newer stuff is just butt rock.

      The Beatles music is... fine. It's good pop rock. The fact they became such a cultural phenomenon means that even if they were 10x better they'd still be grossly overrated. People hate wanking over them is about as cringe as people who can't shut up about how Sargent Pepper's Lonely Whatever is the greatest album ever. But saying there overrated is no lie and I don't personally like them very much and get annoyed when people act SHOCKED! SHOCKED I TELL YOU! to hear that.

              i'm not. i just don't like their music and think it sucks. which is not helped by their incredibly rabid fanbase

              also lol "objectively excellent" is not something i'd say about literally any art, but go off tiger

              eta: let me try to be less of a dick about this. i just have never enjoyed their music. i don't really like pop music. i loathe being lectured by beatles fans specifically because they treat not liking their favorite band as tantamount to genocide. it's just exhausting and annoying.

                  yeah this is pretty much the standpoint i try to take with everything i don't like. i think i just find being labeled pretentious and faux-edgy for not liking something to be tiring, particularly when that's about the least hostile fan-interaction you can hope for with beatles fans upon announcing that you don't care for their music

                  tl;dr i think you're right and i agree with you, i just found the haughty attitude unpalatable
