I hate the Melvins. Buzz is fucking annoying as a person, and as a songwriter, every album they've ever put out is composed of 1, maybe 2 good songs and the rest filler. Their newer stuff is just butt rock.

those are indeed some spicy takes.
agree with radiohead. but I like the smashing pumpkins. I also think there are some fantastic white rappers out there. give Atmosphere a listen. Also Aesop Rock is widely recognized as a talented artist, and I agree.

Parodies in general really suck, but Weird Al mostly gets credit because he was the first and did it before the YouTube era. The other thing he did extremely well, that I do give credit for, was the actual music production and stylistic imitation of the song he was parodying, where most parodies only take it as far as changing the lyrics without really reproducing the original song otherwise. I think Weird Al is a talented individual, but not an all-timer. And I'm not even sure his talent was best served by parodies.

Suge Knight did a lot of stuff wrong.

Trauma doesn't create artistry and this myth needs to die ASAP.

"Hey, why is this album called Labor Days?" "Because after Daylight, it feels like a job to sit through" (he's very inconsistent for me). He needs Breakdance Beach energy on an entire album and I haven't seen that from him yet.

Weird Al to me is like winning a Street Fighter major with pre-SFV Dan. Parodies suck so fucking hard that just having a career based around them and not being universally loathed is a miracle. It's less his actual output which is like, fine for what it's going for, but if anyone else on the planet tried to do what he did, they'd be stoned to death.

Suge Knight probably did something wrong. It's like how Deng said that Mao was "70 percent right and 30 percent wrong". Similar ratio and method of determining Knight's guilt.

damn I didn't see any issue with my idea of "screaming at a bunch of children while putting a plastic recorder in front of them" before but you may have a point

I can get behind that take on Weird Al, sure.

For Suge, he's a CEO, so gulag for that. But also, I believe that he was involved in the death of biggie, which is bad. And killing his friend with his car was bad, even if it was an accident. Accidentally killing your friend is still pretty bad.
