The 70's are such a haunted decade to me. The whole vibe of the time to me is like the last gasp of "American Greatness", before / right as neoliberalism really began devouring the country's ability to invest in itself and do anything for its people.
The US government down to the local level was looted and ransacked for decades before most of us were even born. Now our gerontocracy won't even forgive student debts that will likely provoke a major recession for the world economy if they are ever turned back on. They'll burn down the Republic if it means they can get paid $250k for a speech to a techbro finance startup after they leave office so long as they vote the "right way".
Another example: Housing was brought down to 4-5x average wages in the 1970's through productivity/technology gains and then slowly was taken over by layers of finance companies adding zero value extracting ever more wealth out of homebuyers.
The US is now above the average house cost to median wage during the worst part of the housing bubble in 2007-2008. This was all brought on through Carter/Reagan-led deregulation of entire swaths of housing/renting rights.
I say IM GOING MAD AND IM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE daily nowadays
Never seen the walls so clean. Even when they pressure washed the shit out of Embarcadero a few years back it was still grimy as shit.
Too bad BART is complete SHIT
still love it though :Care-Comrade: love me crackheads, expensive fare and halfway decent public transit
Simple. As.
